Why invent a robot to polish truck rims?

Using a robot to polish aluminum rim has many advantages:

Quality – it produces a consistent, deep and lasting polish each and every time.

Safety   – it physically isolates an otherwise dangerous and unhealthy activity.

Speed   – it polishes more rims in less time, robots are more powerful and never get tired.

Control – it is programmed to apply the perfect amount of polishing motion and pressure.

Cost     – it cuts the cost of rim polishing by reducing labor effort required.

How long doe VIS-Polish take to polish a rim?

A typical rim takes 20 to 40 minutes.  Steer rims take less time, drive rims a little more.

To polish the 6 visible rims on a truck VIS-polish takes about 3 hours.

Do tires have to be removed from rims before polishing?

No.  VIS-Polish can polish rims with or without tires on the rim.

VIS-Polish does require wheels be removed from a truck for polishing.

Can VIS-Polish also clean bead seating surfaces?

Yes.  VIS-Polish has a routine that automatically cleans the bead seating surface of a rim.

Does VIS-Polish need to be watched while polishing?

No.  Once VIS-Polish is loaded and turned on, it needs no further operator involvement.

The machine is designed to allow the operator to get on to other jobs in the shop while polishing proceeds.

Does operating VIS-Polish require any special skills?

No.  Learning how to operate and maintain VIS-Polish takes about an hour.

Any physically fit person that can handle a truck wheel can operate it.

How does VIS-Polish ensure safety during polishing?

VIS-Polish has a lock-out feature that locks all access to the inside of the machine when it is operating.  An operator cannot get near the polishing head when it is moving.

What types of truck rims does it polish?

VIS-Polish can polish all conventional heavy truck rims.

Including the steer and drive side of rims from 19.5” to 24.5” in diameter.

It can polish conventional rim profiles, oversized steer rims and super singles.

It cannot polish car or light truck rims.

How does VIS-Polish control the dust generated when polishing?

VIS-Polish comes with a dust collection system that runs when the machine is polishing.

The dust collection system can also be used to clean the machine when it is not polishing.

How many rims can it polish in a day?

In a 9 hour day (it doesn’t take breaks) VIS-Polish can polish 18 rims, the equivalent of 3 trucks.

If required, VIS-Polish is happy to work overtime.  It never gets tired.

What power requirements does VIS-Polish require?

VIS-Polish requires a 480 volt, three phase 30 amp circuit
